UPDATE – 10/21/09
Thanks to those below who gave! We are sending the money in this week. I truly believe this is what God meant in James 1:27. This gift is special because we are giving it (as is HOPE) in Jesus’ name. There is still time to give if you would like to help…..just click the DONATE button below…

Will you help us? I recently attended a conference where HOPE Intenational presented their work. I was moved and impressed. Watch the video, read the summary, and decide for yourself if you want to help.
HOPE International is a network of microfinance institutions operating in 14 countries around the world. Microfinance isn’t like most forms of charity. Instead of offering handouts to those living in poverty, it seeks to offer a hand up. It acknowledges that the poor are much like us: intelligent, capable, and eager to work to provide for their own families. Unlike us, they often lack access to financial services like business loans, basic training, and secure savings accounts. Microfinance makes these services available to those who are willing and ready to work. Those who access microfinance services can take pride in knowing that their own hard work has made the difference between poverty and provision. By incorporating a strong witness for Jesus Christ and by employing a variety of approaches to microfinance, HOPE is an innovator in the field of microenterprise development.
My wife and I are going to raise $100 this week for HOPE International to help someone in poverty start a business, and we’d like your help. I’m asking those of you that can to give $10 to this cause. Jessi and I are giving $10, and will make up the difference for anything short of $100. Ten bucks – that’s it. I will post the results of our fundraising at the end of the week….
